"I was always a dreamer. As a kid
I was often mocked for my unrealistic view of life. I had great big plans for my future... they were kind of crazy...
I wanted to ride my bicycle around the country. I wanted to backpack in the Himalayas. I dreamed of sailing
around the world to remote islands. I believe that God gives us our dreams and I have always tried to follow them.
In the past twenty years I have trekked in the Himalayas setting up clinics
for doctors to treat people. I have ridden my bicycle from Wyoming to Alaska, hiked almost all of the Grand Canyon,
hiked and backpacked in every wilderness area in Wyoming and Montana, sea kayaked in British Columbia, sailed all of the east
coast of the USA from New York City to Miami, as well as the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and
the US and British Virgin Islands. In those twenty years in all but three months of that time my wife and I have had
troubled or at risk teenagers living with us. They went with me everywhere because I firmly believe these experiences
can be the catalyst for change in a young person's life."
